Environmental activists ranging in age from their 60s to 80s set up a picket line – including rocking chairs – at a Citibank in Westwood.

Their goal? To get major banks to shift their investments from fossil fuel companies to renewable energy. Ann Barts, a member of the group Third Act, told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou that energy investment is at a tipping point.

“Renewable energy is coming up fast on the profit scale and they are meeting or exceeding the profits from oil and gas at this point,” Barts said.

She said banks could ensure customer loyalty, improve the planet, and make a better future for everybody by investing in renewable energy.

Third Act is made up of activists 60 and older. They said they’ll continue to stage protests called “The Summer of Heat” at major chain banks nationwide.
