The deadly shooting at the ICE facility in Texas on Wednesday prompted more security around the Adelanto Detention Center in Victorville.
“Basically, with the shooting that occurred in Dallas, our sheriff, Shannon Dicus, wanted to make sure that we are proactively increasing patrols in that area,” Gloria Orajel with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department told KNX News’ Emily Valdez. “Just to make sure that residents in that area, personnel, detainees, and people who are visiting the facility are kept safe.”
The Adelanto Detention Center holds about 2,000 detainees, most awaiting deportation.

The shooting in Dallas, Texas, happened at an ICE field office. One person was killed, and two people are in critical condition. Police say all the victims were detainees, and the gunman fired from the rooftop of a nearby office building, aiming at the facility. The shooter had turned the gun on himself.
