The man who shot and killed a prominent doctor and his wife in Simi Valley was the doctor's son, according to police.
After shooting his father, Dr. Eric Cordes, and his stepmother, Vicki, officers say that license plate readers tracked 37-year-old Keith Cordes to Chino, where he reportedly set his car on fire at a park, got out of the car, and shot himself.
“Additional forensic testing is pending, but we believe that the firearm recovered from Keith's suicide is the same weapon used in the homicide of Eric and Vicki Cordes here in Simi Valley,” Simi Valley police Sgt. Rick Morton told KNX News’ Emily Valdez.
Police are still looking for a motive.
