The House of Representatives has pulled $200 million of funding earmarked for the Inglewood Transit Connector Project.

The project is designed to link the Metro K Line to Sofi Stadium and Intuit Dome. Rep. Maxine Waters wrote a letter to U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg asking him to reject the funding because it’s too expensive.

The estimated cost of the project is $2 billion for about 1.6 miles of new rail lines. Waters said shuttle buses could accomplish the same goal as the people mover at a fraction of the cost.

$1 billion in federal funding was initially committed to the project from Buttigieg’s agency. The removal of $200 million still has to be reconciled with the Senate and can still change, according to the L.A. Times.

The Inglewood Transit Connector Project is a “fully elevated, automated, fixed-guideway transit system with three new transit stations in the City of Inglewood,” according to the project’s website.
