On Friday, crews gained ground on several fires around Southern California.

Sandy Fire
The Sandy Fire in Simi Valley has currently burned 2,141 acres and is 40% contained. 1,156 crews are working on the fire along with 106 engines, two water tenders, eight dozers, and 23 hand crews, according to CalFire.
The fire, which started on Monday, has burned one home. No injuries have been reported.

Bain Fire
The Bain Fire in Jurupa Valley has currently burned 1,497 acres and is at 67% containment. 528 crews are working on the fire along with 58 engines, one water tender, four dozers, and 13 hand crews, according to CalFire.
The fire, which started on Tuesday, has injured four people and one firefighter and damaged three structures.

Verona Fire
The Verona Fire in Riverside County has currently burned 648 acres and is 57% contained. 518 crews are working on the fire along with 37 engines, 14 water tenders, and 27 hand crews, according to CalFire.
The fire, which started on Tuesday, has destroyed four structures and damaged four structures.

Santa Rosa Island Fire
The Santa Rosa Fire has burned 18,379 acres and is 59% contained. According to the Santa Barbara Independent, this fire is the largest ever on the Channel Islands.
Officials say this fire was caused by a human and is under investigation.
