As Southern California recovers from Thursday’s storm, residents are urged to prepare for the second storm set to arrive on Sunday.
“Over the (Sunday to Tuesday) period the early estimates call for widespread rain amounts of 2 to 4 inches for lower elevations and likely twice those amounts in the south-facing mountains," according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS urged residents to look out for rock and mud slides, flooding, as well as some snow.
"Significant and hazardous snowfall amounts will be possible above 6,000 feet through Monday night. Lower elevation snow down to around 4,000 feet is possible by later Tuesday into Wednesday,” according to NWS.
Communities at the base of the San Gabriel Mountain are preparing for the heavy rain that’s expected. One woman who lives in Duarte told KNX News’ Jon Baird that while she’s not worries, her neighbors are preparing themselves.
“They got food, they got all the necessities that they needed just for the time being just to make sure just in case if anything does happen, and we do have really bad flooding here, they're ok for a while until they can get to the storm,” she said.
