Beginning Tuesday, some residents of the Seaview community in Rancho Palos Verdes will have their natural gas service restored after Southern California Gas Co. cut off service last year due to land movement in the area.
Crews will go door-to-door on Dauntless, Exultant and Admirable Drives “to complete the restoration of natural gas service,” according to SoCalGas.
In July 2024, natural gas was shut off at 135 homes in the Portuguese Bend Community due to “worsening land movement.”
SoCalGas officials said that since October 2024, land movement in the Rolling Hills, Seaview, and the Portuguese Bend Beach Club have slowed down drastically.
Mayor David Bradley told KNX News’ Jon Baird he’s appreciative of SoCalGas getting the gas restored.
“It's been incredibly frustrating over the last nine months working with both SoCal Gas as well as SoCal Edison to get service restored,” he said. “Some of our residents have been majorly impacted, as you can imagine, living in the middle of Los Angeles County, but not having active power or active natural gas is a huge imposition.”

One resident, Eva, told Jon she’s been without gas since October.
“They came in and hammered and took away the meter,” she said.
She added that while her electricity was restored a couple of months ago, not having gas has impacted her life.
“For cooking out or electric, stovetop, for showers, it's been using the gym, other people's friends' showers,” she said. “Yeah, it's been a headache.”
She added that she’s hoping that lawmakers in Sacramento pass a bill that will provide state funding to help with all the repair work in the area.
SoCalGas officials ay the restoration is expected to take four to five weeks.
