South L.A. schools placed on lockdown due to LAPD standoff with pursuit suspect

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Several schools in the South Los Angeles area were placed on lockdown late Wednesday morning due to a police standoff.

John Muir Magnet Middle School in the 5900 block of South Vermont Avenue and Budlong Elementary School in the 5900 block of South Budlong Avenue, were on lockdown, along with Parks Huerta Early Education Center, according to City News Service.

LAPD was reportedly in a standoff with a suspect who allegedly led officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle in the area.

It’s unclear if the suspect was armed.
