Southern California ski resorts are getting ready for the winter – and the weather seems to be cooperating.
Over the weekend, a storm system dumped two to three inches of snow on Big Bear Mountain and Mountain High resorts.
“That's a great start, and conditions have been great this week for snowmaking, so we're trying to add to that natural snowfall with as much snowfall as we can make this week, conditions permitting,” Big Bear Mountain Resort’s Justin Canton told KNX News’ Karen Adams.
Canton said the resort has a new lift scheduled to open in mid-December, the first significant lift upgrade in over three decades. Other improvements include road repairs up to Summit Boulevard, a new sidewalk, and a bike lane.
Canton said Big Bear Mountain Resort will decide this week on whether to open as early as this weekend. If not, he said they hope to be open by Thanksgiving.
