Southland gas prices are still close to $5
LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped one-tenth of a cent Saturday to $4.611.
The average price is a half-cent more than one week ago and 3.9 cents more than one month ago, but $1.004 less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.883 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped three-tenths of a cent to $4.54. It is seven-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 4.3 cents more than one month ago, but $1.055 less than one year ago. The Orange County average price has dropped $1.919 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct.
5, 2022.
The national average price dropped 1.3 cents to $3.217, its 29th decrease in the past 30 days. It is 6.4 cents less than one week ago, 22.8 cents less than one month ago and 64.1 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.799 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
"There are an ever-increasing number of states east of the Rockies that have some retail gas locations selling regular for under $3 a gallon, so drivers will have more in their wallets with autumn approaching," said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager.
"Should the national average fall below $3, it will be the first time since May 2021."
