State appeals court upholds Rebecca Grossman’s conviction

On Tuesday, the state appeals court upheld the conviction of Rebecca Grossman, who is serving 15 years to life for running down two young boys as they crossed the street in Westlake Village.

Nancy Iskander, the mother of Mark and Jacov, told KNX News she’s relieved by the decision.

“Something we've been praying for that the conviction would be upheld, but at the same time, as a bereaved mom, it's just another reminder that the boys were murdered,” she said. “There was someone out there responsible. It's good in a way because it's a way for me to move forward. At the same time, it's a reminder that I'm moving forward without the boys.”

Iskander added that she doesn't want Grossman to spend the rest of her life behind bars and that she doesn’t have hate in her heart for Grossman or her family.

“I'm certainly not loving the choices she made that day she killed them,” she said. “What I'm really not loving is the way she treated me after she killed them. That is what caused the most pain: not taking responsibility. She has never said, ‘I am sorry. I made bad choices. I messed up. I killed the boys.’”

Instead, Iskander says, Grossman told her, “‘I'm sorry for what happened to you. I am sorry that as a mom, you lost your kid.’”

Grossman was convicted in 2024 of two counts of second-degree murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of hit-and-run in the deaths of the boys.

Iskander’s civil case against Grossman starts next month.
