At least 1,000 people are expected to gather Saturday morning at the 6th Street Bridge for the “We The People Rising – Stop the Hate, Stop the Raids” rally.

The rally will start on the Mateo Side of the 6th Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles and then end at the Japanese American Museum on N. Central Ave.

Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez and Ysabel Jurado told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener the event will be peaceful.

“We're working with unions and other orgs to make sure that there's marshals for the parade so that there's people trained and got to de-escalate situations,” Hernandez said.

“This march that we're envisioning across the 6th Street bridge, that's just to me harkening back to the peaceful walk across the Selma Bridge, and that's what we're doing,” Jurado said. “We're exercising our civil rights.  We're exercising our First Amendment speech.”

The rally will start at 10 a.m.
