Snow storm warning issued for Inland Empire mountain communities

BIG BEAR CITY, Calif. (KNX) — The National Weather Service has issued a storm warning for parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties through 10 p.m. Saturday evening.

The warning applies to communities sitting 4,000 feet in elevation.

Residents can expect bouts of snow flurries and southwest winds up to 30 miles per hour with gusts of 50 miles per hour.

Additional snowfall of three to six inches was forecasted for mountain communities including Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, Running Springs, and Wrightwood. Some areas could see up to eight inches.

Travelers should expect difficult driving conditions, low visibility, and significant driving delays. Heaviest snowfall was expected between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

If travel is necessary, drivers are advised by the NWS to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in vehicles in case of an emergency.
