Forecasters have issued a rare red flag warning in Southern California called a "particularly dangerous situation" because of exceptional fire weather conditions.

That warning will go into effect from 10 p.m. Monday until 2 p.m. Tuesday for San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Monica Mountain,  Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County coasts and valleys, and Western San Fernando Valley, according to the National Weather Service. This is due to “damaging Santa Ana winds and very low humidities,”  officials said.

Red Flag warnings were issued for those areas from 10 a.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Ventura County Fire Captain Tony McHale told KNX News’ Jon Baird they’re prepared in the event another fire breaks out.

“We are upstaffing right now. We are going through what's called a brush plan, where we staff extra strike teams of engines,” he said. “We bring in additional personnel for division soups, additional equipment like helicopters.”

McHale urges residents to have a plan and be ready to go if a wildfire breaks out.
