Firefighters are still battling strong winds on Wednesday morning that could carry embers and ignite new fires.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service predicted that wind gusts in Los Angeles and Ventura counties will be between 40 to 55 mph in the mountains and 35 to 50 mph in the coasts and valleys. Peak winds are expected through 3 p.m.
In a post on X, NWS officials wrote that despite winds “underperforming” on Tuesday, people should continue to be vigilant.
“The PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Red Flag Warning remains in effect for the same areas, now for 3am to 3pm Wed,” the post read.
Red Flag warnings are still in effect until 3 p.m. in areas such as the I-5 Freeway, the San Gabriel Mountains, and Simi Valley.
