While everyone in Southern California has that one street or intersection they absolutely hate, the Los Angeles Times has ranked Sunset and Highland in Hollywood as the worst intersection in Los Angeles.

Sepulveda and Lincoln near LAX was ranked the second worst, while MLK and Crenshaw next to Leimert Park wasranked the third worst.

The analysis by the outlet based its ranking on “city data on traffic volumes and accidents.”

James Moore, USC Professor Emeritus and former director of the school's transportation engineering program, who took part in the analysis, told KNX News he thinks those intersections are some of L.A.’s best because “they accommodate the most traffic.”

“I'm not arguing that they're fun,” he said. “I'm just saying that if you're going to get into the business of evaluating intersections, you've got to think carefully about what they're for. Signalized intersections never decrease delay; they increase the equity of movement. If you want to maximize flow through a given intersection, then the thing to do is leave it unsignalized, in which case the major movement is always going to be accommodated, and the minor movement's going to be frozen out and that'll accommodate more traffic, but it's also an inequitable thing to do.”

He added that we all have to be a little "adult" about driving around L.A. and be patient, relax, and understand that the roads and freeways are designed to help everyone get to where they need to go.
