A man suspected of multiple assaults along the beach in Santa Monica, leaving a teenager with critical but non-life- threatening injuries, was taken into custody Monday.

The assaults occurred around 9:45 a.m. in the 1300 block of Ocean Front Walk, where three victims were attacked for reasons still under investigation, according to Santa Monica Police Department Lt. Erika Aklufi.

The three victims were provided medical assistance at the scene, including an older woman and a 17-year-old, who was taken to a hospital with unspecified severe injuries that weren't deemed life-threatening.
It was unclear what prompted the attacks. The suspect's name was not immediate released.
