Suspect arrested in deadly stabbing in El Monte

A woman was fatally stabbed at a residence in El Monte, and her alleged killer was arrested, authorities said Monday.

El Monte police officers were sent to the 11000 block of Ranchito Street about 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

"Upon their arrival, they detained a female ... suspect, 20-25 years old, outside of the residence," the sheriff's department said in a statement.

"Officers made entry into the location where they located the victim, 40-45 years old, suffering from multiple stab wounds," the sheriff's statement said. "Paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased."

Authorities withheld the name of the fatally injured woman, pending notification of her next of kin.

"The suspect was placed under arrest," the sheriff's statement said. "There are no suspects outstanding. A possible murder weapon was recovered at the scene."

Information was not available on the identity of the suspect or on her relationship to the victim.
