A person was fatally shot in downtown Los Angeles Thursday, and a suspect was detained.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the area near Sixth and Main streets around 3:50 p.m. Thursday on a report of shots fired.

KCAL9 reported from the scene that the victim was shot in the face and pronounced dead at the scene. There were initial reports of a possible second victim nearby, but authorities could not confirm an additional victim.
It was unclear what motivated the shooting.
