Suspect in fatal stabbing near Fullerton dog park arrested

FULLERTON, Calif. (KNX) — A man suspected of a fatal stabbing committed near a dog park in Fullerton in September was arrested Monday.

David Vargas Carrillo Jr., 48, of Fullerton, was taken into custody by a SWAT team in Anaheim, according to Fullerton police. He was subsequently booked into jail on suspicion of murder.

Investigators alleged Carrillo was responsible for stabbing an unidentified male acquaintance in his 40s who was found wounded in a parking lot located in the 200 block of South Basque Avenue, near the Fullerton Pooch Park, at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 14.

Police found the victim unresponsive, bleeding from significant stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The identity of the victim has not been released by Fullerton police.
