Suspect in Sylmar hit-and-run sought; security video released

Police on Monday released security video and sought the public's help in locating a hit-and-run suspect responsible for severely injuring a 22-year-old man in a crosswalk in Sylmar.

The collision was reported Wednesday around 9:15 p.m., when officers responded to the intersection of Sayre Street and Foothill Boulevard to conduct an investigation involving a pedestrian, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Detectives determined that a gray sedan was northbound on Sayre Street when the driver turned left to go west on Foothill Boulevard, where the car struck the man and kept going.

``Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves," police said in a statement.

A standing reward of up to $25,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a non-fatal hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call LAPD Valley Traffic Division detectives at 818-644-8036. Calls during non-business hours or weekends should be directed to 877-527-3247. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit www.lacrimestoppers.org.
