A 43-year-old parolee suspected of a Van Nuys residential burglary was taken into custody, police said Friday.

Officers were sent to the 14700 block of Ostego Street on Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. in response to a man breaking into a home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said the suspect, Joshua Batt, was arrested at the residence while in possession of stolen items.

Batt was later identified as an interstate parolee wearing a GPS tracker.

"California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Adult Parole, was notified and placed a parole hold on Batt," police said in a statement.

He was booked on suspicion of burglary and is being held without bail, according to jail records.
