Officers were sent to the alley west of Westlake Avenue and north of Wilshire Boulevard on Dec. 2 at about 11 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
"A silver Nissan Sentra, possibly between the years of 2007-12, was traveling southbound in the alley when it collided into the pedestrian," an LAPD statement said. "The driver of the Nissan Sentra failed to stop, identify themselves, or render aid, as required by law."
Paramedics took the injured man to a hospital, were he died. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
Police circulated security video of the hit-and-run vehicle. A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to contact Investigator Gabriela Diaz of the Central Traffic Division at 213-833-3713 or via email at 36160@lapd.online. Tipsters may also call 877-LAPD-247, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or use the website www.lacrimestoppers.org.
