Police in Palos Verdes Estates are searching for a woman who allegedly tried to lure a child walking home from school.

Police say the 10-year-old boy was walking home from Lunada Bay Elementary School on Friday when a woman pulled up in a newer-model blue SUV. She asked him to get in the car twice and told him she was going to text his mother.

A man walking his dog asked the boy if he knew the woman. When he said no, the man told the boy to go home.

“The concerns are that children in this area, there's a presumed level of safety, and unfortunately, that's just, it appears to not be the case,” Tina, who has two kids at Lunada Bay Elementary, told KNX News’ Emily Valdez. “It also makes you wonder, [the area] being as secluded as it is, if there is enough of an ability to see kids as they walk down these side streets.”

On Monday, police said they haven’t been able to locate the woman or the good Samaritan who intervened.
