Authorities are searching for two suspects who carjacked a truck and a big rig, and led deputies and CHP on a chase from the Antelope Valley to downtown Los Angeles.

The two suspects carjacked a green Ford F250 pickup from a Lancaster home on Sunday around 10 p.m., according to Sheriff's Lt. Oscar Martinez.

“They fired several rounds at the vehicle's owner before fleeing,” he told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “The victim was not injured. We had deputies from Lancaster Sheriff's Station…they were assisted by our aero bureau, that's our helicopter. [We] tracked a stolen truck that drove recklessly [and] at one point, traveling the wrong way on State Route 14.”

Officers with the California Highway Patrol ended up taking over the pursuit. At one point, the suspects abandoned the truck and tried to carjack a white car, but the driver kept the doors locked. The suspects then carjacked a milk truck and drove the big rig all the way to downtown L.A.

Lt. Martinez said the suspects eventually escaped officers under an overpass in Boyle Heights and disappeared.
