More than 30 years after “Whoomp! (There It Is)” exploded onto the scene, DC Glenn of Tag Team says the joy of performing it live has never worn off.

In a conversation with KNX News' Nataly Tavidian, Glenn shared how the hip-hop duo — which he formed with Steve Gibson back in high school before making their mark in Atlanta — continues to pack crowds with pure energy.

“Being on that stage and making people happy, bringing back nostalgia — it’s the one thing I just can’t do without,” he said.

He reflected on the song’s unlikely longevity, noting how it keeps resurfacing in movies, commercials, and even sports arenas.

“I was just happy to have a hit record,” he continued. “But when I saw it in ‘Elf’, and then the GEICO commercial brought it to a new generation — it just keeps going.”

Glenn credits their staying power to hard work, marketing savvy, and a commitment to authenticity.

“Our show is crowd and response — no gimmicks, no dancers, just pure energy,” he explained, adding that prayer and breathwork help him manage the adrenaline before hitting the stage.

The I Love the 90s Tour has become a phenomenon, bringing together acts like Vanilla Ice, Color Me Badd, and All-4-One.

Glenn describes it as part family reunion, part cultural celebration.

“Back then, it was competition. Now it’s respect,” he said. “We all lived it, and people still want to see us.”

The tour stops in Southern California on September 20 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, promising fans a night of nostalgia and unforgettable '90s hits.
