LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Taylor Swift fan who was unable to secure pre- sale passes to the singer's Eras Tour has dropped her lawsuit against Los Angeles-based Live Nation and its Ticketmaster subsidiary, according to court papers obtained Wednesday.
Michelle Sterioff alleged in her suit filed in Los Angeles federal court last year that Ticketmaster had violated antitrust laws and participated in anticompetitive and misleading conduct during the ticketing giant's bungled sale for seats to Swift's 2023 stadium trek.
Sterioff filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of her lawsuit on Tuesday. No other details were given.
The Kirkland, Washington-based fan said she initially missed out on Swift tickets despite purportedly participating in the TaylorSwiftTix Presale and the Capital One Presale. The plaintiff alleged she was ultimately "forced to purchase tickets through an alternate secondary ticketing service provider" after Ticketmaster closed the public on-sale, according to the suit.
Sterioff said the face value of the secondary passes "was based on the monopolistic prices charged by Ticketmaster in the prior transaction," the suit alleged.
After fans across the country complained in November 2022 of problems accessing pre-sale passes to the tour, Swift issued an apology and said she would work to streamline the process in the future.
Ticketmaster followed up with an online apology to Taylor and those fans who had a difficult experience trying to purchase tickets. The company also shared a link leading to a page showing a breakdown of issues that allegedly led to the problem.
