Teen killed, man wounded in gang-related shooting in Hawthorne

A 16-year-old boy was killed and a 32-year-old man was wounded in a shooting believed to be gang-related in Hawthorne Friday.

Hawthorne Police responded around 12-30  a.m. Friday to the 4200 block of West Broadway, between 122nd and 126th streets, regarding a shooting, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Michael Modica.

A 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his upper body was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead., according to the LASD. The other victim was treated at a hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body.

Gang investigators with Hawthorne police said the shooting was gang- related, but did not provide any suspect details.
