Teen killed in South L.A. crash identified

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities Monday identified a 17-year-old boy who was killed in a two-vehicle crash in the South Los Angeles area.

The crash occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday in the area of West Adams Boulevard and Arlington Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Josue Mendez-Portillo of Los Angeles died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner.

According to police, Mendez-Portillo was driving south on Arlington Avenue when his vehicle collided with a vehicle that was eastbound on Adams Boulevard. The occupants of the eastbound vehicle -- two females and a male -- fled the scene on foot, police said.

A passenger in Mendez-Portillo's vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, authorities said.
