Orange County voters were a bit surprised by the announcement of President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race 107 days before the election.

KNX News’ Pete Demetriou spoke to voters outside of the Orange County Fairgrounds where they learned of Biden’s announcement and endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I thought the timing was a little odd. It was too, it's getting too close to their convention,” Greg Cates, an O.C. voter, said. “So, yes, I was a little surprised but he just experienced COVID and it hurts everybody differently. So maybe he just finally thought this is it.”

His wife, Cindy Cates, thought rather than a candidate being anointed, there is another option at the convention.

“I’d throw it open to everybody at this point,” she said. “Definitely, I'm not a fan of her.”

Some people are convinced that if Harris is the nominee, Democrats will have to nominate a strong Vice President candidate to bolster their chances against former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance.
