L.A. County to discuss boosters, vaccines for kids in virtual town hall

Angelenos have their chance to ask questions about COVID-19 boosters, vaccinating young children against the coronavirus and having a safe holiday season at a virtual meeting this Thursday.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health shared the announcement on Twitter, offering residents a link to be able to ask their questions ahead of the 6 p.m. town hall.

Boosters have been approved for all three FDA-approved vaccines and recipients can “mix and match” them regardless of which vaccine they originally got, county officials said. L.A. County is already administering boosters for the Pfizer, Moderna andJohnson and Johnson vaccines

For residents who received the J&J vaccine two or months ago, booster shots are already available and appointments can be made at MyTurn.CA.gov. 

L.A. County Resident who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines more than six months ago are eligible if — they are 65 years and older, they are age 18 and older and live in long-term care settings, if they are age 18 and older and have underlying medical conditions and if they are 18 and older and live or work in high-risk settings.

To date, more than 6.2 million Angelenos are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In a statement, Director of Public Health, Barbara Ferrer advised anyone considering holiday travel to get their booster well before the holiday season.

If you do nott have internet access, cannot use a computer, or you are over 65, you can call 1-833-540-0473 for help finding an appointment, connecting to free transportation to and from a vaccination site, or scheduling a home-visit if you are homebound.
