Toddler boy was shot while riding in the car with dad on the 105 Freeway

A toddler was shot and wounded after someone shot into his father’s car while they were driving on the 105 Freeway in Downey.

The boy’s father, 29, told police his son was shot in the right leg by a suspect in a black passenger van. The boy was sitting in his car seat in the back of the car.

The shooting took place at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on the freeway near Lakewood Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition was not disclosed. There is no motive in the shooting.
