Tourist shot in leg during robbery in Venice

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — An out-of-town visitor was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery in Venice on Wednesday, according to Los Angeles police.

A man and a woman, both in L.A. from out of state, were in the area of Washington Boulevard and Dell Avenue when they were approached by three to four men believed to be in their 20s. The men allegedly demanded property, according to LAPD spokesperson Mike Lopez. The victims handed over jewelry.

One of the assailants then shot the male victim in the leg. The group subsequently fled the scene in a white sedan, heading north on Dell Avenue, Lopez said.

The man was taken to a local hospital by the woman he was traveling with. His condition was unknown as of Thursday morning and no further details were available.
