President Donald Trump expressed support for Spencer Pratt in the Los Angeles mayoral race.
The president was asked on Wednesday by reporters about whether or not he would endorse Pratt.
“I'd like to see him do well. He's a character,” he said. “I don't know. I don't know him. I assume he probably supports me. Does he support me? I think so, yeah, I heard he does. I heard he's a big MAGA person. He's doing well. I don't know, if you have a rigged vote out there, that's the problem. The votes are rigged. If we had Jesus Christ come down and count the votes, I would have won California because I'd do great with Hispanics, but it's a rigged vote.”
Councilmember and mayoral candidate Nithya Raman referred to Pratt as a “a MAGA Republican mayor who lives in the Bel Air hotel,” to which Pratt responded to her with a gif him rolling his eyes.
Pratt has hesitated to align publicly with Trump. When Pratt was at KNX News for an interview earlier this month, Alex Silverman asked Pratt how he was like and was not like Trump.
“I'm not like anybody but Spencer Pratt,” he responded. “The only reason I'm running is because city negligence burned my house down, burned my parents' house down, burned 12 of my neighbors alive, 7,000 structures. I only got in this because nobody stepped up.”
