On Tuesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to create a White House task force dealing with security for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
"Today, I will sign an executive order establishing the White House Task Force on the 2028 Summer Olympics, mobilizing the entire federal government to ensure the Games are safe, seamless, and historically successful," the president told reporters.
President Trump said he will be directing several departments and agencies, including the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Secret Service, "to use every tool at their disposal to ensure a fantastic, safe, and beautiful event."
Casey Wasserman, chairman of LA28, was at Tuesday's signing where he also presented Trump with a box containing medals from the 1984 Olympics.
Security expert Paul Violis told KNX News’ Jon Baird said the LAPD, L. A. County Sheriff’s Department should be a part of any decisions that are made by the task force.

“Now they're not going to be able to handle this by themselves, but I think out of respect, we need to make sure that if this task force does go forward, that the powers that be inside those police departments are center stage with respect to decision-making,” he said.
Neither Mayor Karen Bass nor Governor Gavin Newsom has responded to news of the task force.
