Months after the writers and actors’ unions settled with the studios, the unions representing 66,000 crew members are heading to the bargaining table on Monday.
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Teamsters Local 399, and Hollywood Basic Crafts will meet with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. In addition to more money, the unions are seeking better pension and health benefits and AI protections.
On Sunday, the unions held a rally in Woodley Park in Encino where they were joined by members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. The message that day was “Nothing moves without the crew.”
Sean M. O'Brien, General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, said it’s time close the gap between executives and the workers.
“It’s not about what these studios are going to give us. It's about what we are going to demand and take for working people," he said.
One of the other speakers at the rally reflected on the previous strikes.
“We had strikes up and down the state that showed employers, corporate interests that working people have had enough, they're willing to stand up, push back,” she said.
