We caught up with KNX Heroes of the Week Jenna Grabow and Anna Lundmark, who are continuing their mission to hire employees on the spectrum!
Last year, Grabow and Lundmark, her sister-in-law, launched their own beauty brand, “Beauty by Jenna.” The brand was created after Grabow, who is on the autism spectrum, graduated from beauty school and struggled to find work.
Their mission was to create American-made products and to hire 100 differently-abled adults. When the duo caught up with Heroes host Heather Jordan, they revealed that they had hired five new employees: Cruise, Henry, Manny, Teal, and Aiden.
Grabow said she’s very proud of what she’s accomplished.
‘It's just such an honor to be starting this company and influencing so many people and just having such great people work with us,” she told Heroes host Heather Jordan. “Obviously, we're doing something that has an impact on a person's life and we're really helping them achieve their dream or give them hope, and it's just an honor.”
Henry said he loves being part of the team.
“It's been the most enjoyable, most chill, most fun I've ever had in working on the job,” he said.
Manny said he enjoys listening to his music while packing boxes.
“I also enjoy listening to classical music while I'm doing some stuff,” he said.
Teal said this is the first job where she's accepted for who she is.
“I have this community of others who are also neurodivergent,” she said. “I just feel like I can be myself here, and I feel like it's a safe space where I belong.
