A church in Upland is changing how it marks people on Ash Wednesday - because of the pandemic.
Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, for the past three years, would let people drive through in their cars and be marked directly on the forehead.
But on Wednesday morning there will be "no touching."
"With COVID around we want safety first. The delivery of the ashes will not be imposed directly on peoples' foreheads but it will be all touchless. So we have kits to go that we will place in the back of peoples' vehicles," says church Rector Reverend Keith Yamamoto.
He tells KNX 1070 News the church is prepared to hand out a couple hundred kits.
Drive-through ashes will be given out from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday.
