A man remains in critical condition following a hit-and-run in South Los Angeles on Labor Day night.
It was reported at the corner of 79th and Hoover St. 63-year-old Kennedy Coleman was struck by a driver of an unknown vehicle seconds after falling off his bike.
“This unknown vehicle simply runs him over his bike, himself, drags him several feet, and basically left him for almost dead,” LAPD South Traffic Bureau Detective Gerald Chavarria told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou.
Detective Chavarria said he didn’t understand how the driver didn’t see Coleman lying on the street.
“The driver stopped at a red light,” he said. “So for several seconds, he would have, should have, could have seen Mr Coleman being illuminated by his own headlights across the intersection [and] getting up from his bike. But for some unknown reason - whether it's distraction, drunk, or just simply not paying attention - runs over Mr Coleman.”

Anyone with information on the accident or the driver involved was urged to call LAPD South Traffic Division.
