A 14-year-old boy, reportedly a relative of the slain man, was also wounded in the attack but survived.
Authorities held a news conference Wednesday morning to announce the reward and seek the public's help in the case.
"He leaves behind a wife, two girls, and a baby boy who's never going to meet his dad," the man's brother, Adrian Alvarez, said at the news conference.
Information on a possible motive for the crime was not released by authorities.
"The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark-colored 4-door vehicle containing several males," sheriff's Lt. Patricia Thomas said. "The shooter was described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s wearing a black T-shirt and a black beanie."
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
