Actor Val Kilmer spent his final years in Los Angeles in poor health, but he continued to paint and write poems, according to a good friend.
L.A.-based artist Tomer Peretz told KNX News’ Emily Valdez that Kilmer was a “very deep person” and that the two bonded over their anxiety.
“That friendship was based on anxiety, based on how to overcome it, and we spoke a lot about dark stuff,” Peretz said.
Peretz said the Top Gun and Batman Forever actor “suffered for a very long time” in his later years and didn’t spend much time outside or with people.
Kilmer died Wednesday of pneumonia at age 65.
