The pig caught on camera running through the streets of West Hollywood finally has a home!
Wilbur is headed to an animal sanctuary in Malibu, but it’s not just any animal sanctuary. In fact, it’s owned by legendary songwriter Diane Warren.
Marsha Zwilling, a representative with the Diane Warren Foundation, went to the West L.A. Animal Shelter, where Wilbur was living after being captured. She won the bid for the pig with $500.
Zwilling, who was second in line when the shelter opened Thursday morning, said she was determined to get Wilbur.
“We have a beautiful sanctuary in Malibu,” she said. “The last runaway was a cow that Diane Warren rescued from a slaughterhouse, and she saw this pig running through West Hollywood and said, ‘Get this pig.’”
Jamaal Harrison, who filmed the viral video of Wilbur, went to the shelter to make sure Wilbur was in good hands.
“A lot of people are messaging me,” he told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “That's why I'm here today, because so many people are messaging me that I just want to follow up with all the people in my DMs, you know, and make sure he doesn't go to, like, a slaughterhouse or anything.”
Other people who went to bid on Wilbur said that while they’re disappointed they didn’t get him, they’re happy he went to a good home.
