The incident began Tuesday afternoon with a hit-and-run crash on the 134 Freeway. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, three suspects fled the scene and escaped into a nearby residential neighborhood.

While officers were searching a neighboring home, Jillian Shriner, 51, allegedly came out of her home with a handgun.

"The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times, however, she refused," according to an LAPD statement. "Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers." At least one officer opened fire and Shriner was struck in the shoulder.

Shriner was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

One of the suspects allegedly involved in the hit-and-run crash was arrested by the California Highway Patrol, cited, and released, police said. The other two suspects are still at large.
