The closure is for work on a project developing truck lanes through a seduction of the freeway.

The shutdown will cause traffic disruptions for holidaymakers headed to the Palm Springs area for the weekend.

There will be alternating lane closures on the eastbound 60 through the weekend until at least Sunday night.

The following week, westbound closures are planned for nighttime hours, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, Feb. 11. Alternating eastbound single lane closures are planned for corresponding weeknight shutdowns.
