A 40-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 4-year-old child from a store in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles.

It happened at about 12:40 p.m. Sunday at a store at 620 S. Virgil Ave., just north of Wilshire Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect was described as a woman about 5-feet-5 inches tall weighing 150 pounds. She was wearing a brown jacket, black shirt, blue jeans and black-and-white shoes, according to the LAPD.
She is accused for forcefully grabbing the child from behind and dragging him outside the store. She allegedly put the child down when confronted by his parent and fled on foot.
Police said she was taken into custody Wednesday and that an investigation remains ongoing.
