A Westminster police officer, who was caught on camera punching a handcuffed suspect in the face, has been placed on administrative leave.
A police spokesman says it happened Wednesday afternoon on Locust Street, near Westminster Boulevard, after a woman was accused of assaulting another woman who trying to rescue a dog running down the street.
The woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was combative with officers trying to restrain her.
The video shared on social media shows one officer allegedly punching her before his two partners stop him.
The spokesman says the department is taking the matter seriously.
