Another storm is making its way to Southern California beginning Friday night, prompting some Easter events to be cancelled or rescheduled.
“This storm is late in the season but we do expect it to pack a pretty good punch starting late Friday evening,” Captain Erik Scott with L.A. Fire told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “However, Saturday is the main event.”
The National Weather Service said there could be between one to three inches of rain, with the foothills and mountains receiving between three to six inches of rain.
“This storm will bring periods of heavy rain and mountain snow along with a slight chance of thunderstorms,” the NWS said.
With the storm coming, many are concerned about mudslides and landslides.
“There's actually a slide that's blocking the road right now. So Topeka Canyon, it is shut down,” Fred Fielding with the L.A. County Fire Department told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “They're not sure when they're going to be able to remove the debris.”
The incoming storm is also causing several Easter events to be cancelled. The Egg Bowl and Bunny Brunch in Pasadena, which was slated for Saturday, has been cancelled.
Huntington Beach rescheduled its annual Easter Hunt and Family Fun Day to April 27th.
