DOWNEY (CNS) - A 73-year-old woman was killed and a 24-year-old woman was rushed to a trauma center after a vehicle plowed through a home in Downey Saturday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 9500 block of Gallatin Road, just west of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway. A 24-year-old Maywood man was driving a car eastbound on Gallatin Road when it crashed into the residence, according to the Downey Police Department.
The motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said.
The 73-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured, according to police.
