WESTMINSTER, Calif. (KNX) — A Colorado woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder in what authorities alleged was an intentional hit-and-run collision in Westminster earlier this month.

Saleena Isabelle Carra, 24, of Arvada, Colo., was suspected of running down 41-year-old Westminster resident Oscar Sandoval in the 6500 block of Walt Street on Jan. 3. Westminster police have deemed Sandoval's death a homicide after concluding he was "intentionally struck by the vehicle."

The vehicle in question was severely damaged, including loss of a driver's side headlight casing that was recovered at the scene.

Carra was taken into custody by Colorado police on Jan. 6. The suspect vehicle was found at the location where she was staying and impounded as evidence. She was booked into Jefferson County jail on suspicion of murder and is awaiting extradition to California.

Westminster police have not yet disclosed what, if any, connection existed between Carra and Sandoval. An investigation is ongoing.
