Shortly before 7 a.m. the victim got out of her GMC Canyon pickup truck, but left the gear in reverse, according to CHP. There were no witnesses, but a CHP investigation determined that the pickup rolled backward, knocking the woman down and pinning her beneath the left front tire.

Cal FIRE and the Riverside County Fire Department arrived on the scene later to find the woman already dead.

A large and small dog were recovered from inside the vehicle, uninjured, and have been turned over to a relation of the victim.
